Qatar plans Media City launch
Qatar has announced plans to launch a Media City, a specially designated zone, with a capacity to accommodate about 25000 people from around the world.
The project site has already been identified for this purpose, and the feasibility study has gained approval of higher authorities, reported the Gulf Times.
The project is a joint venture between Qatari Diar, Al Jazeera Network and Qatar Media. Al Jazeera will own 50 percent stake, which the other two will have 25 percent stake each.
According to sources, The Media City will be located in Lusail, and will be different from other media cities in the region. It will rather prove to be an innovative model for them.
An agreement to this effect has already been entered into with an international law firm, so as to prepare laws that govern the city, so that it is compatible with Qatari Law. The Manager for the project too, has already been appointed, it has been learnt.
The project is expected to be a key funding source for various other projects of Aljazeera network.
