		INFRASTRUCTURE Planning and coordination are key to the successful implementation of infrastructure contracts, a task well suited to the KBAS Management Organization. Such contracts involve many civil engineering disciplines from initial site preparation through sewerage, service and main laying including pumping stations and reinforced concrete structures, to final road construction and street lighting. KBAS has led the field in Qatar with this type of contract since the concept was first introduced in the early 1980s. Many such contracts have been successfully completed by our Company with contract values often in excess of QR 100,000,000. WATER & ELECTRICITY The rapid development of Qatar in the past 20 years has necessitated the continuous upgrading of Water and Electricity distribution systems. KBAS Construction Company, has played an important part in this aspect of the development of the country, having carried out extensive cable and main laying contracts in Mesaieed industrial city as well as a major contract for main laying for the prestigious peninsular development in the West Bay area of Doha. SEWERAGE The flat topography of Qatar frequently requires sewers to be laid at considerable depth with regular use of pumping stations. With 90% of excavation being in very hard rock, often requiring blasting, and a water table at times no more than 4m below ground level, necessitating dewatering techniques, the laying of sewers in Qatar is a slow and arduous operation. In contrast to excavation in massive rock, KBAS Construction Company have successfully completed sewer excavation and pumping station construction to a depth of 13m in reclaimed land, necessitating the use of specialist machines and extensive dewatering. EARTH MOVING KBAS Construction Company can proudly claim a heavy plant resource second to no other contractor in Qatar. This facility has enabled the company to carry out single discipline contracts such as earth moving simultaneously with multi-discipline projects. Complimentary to the fleet of dozers and graders, some 50 tipper trucks and dumpers enable major imported fill contracts to be undertaken. ROADS With the benefit of self ownership of crushers and bitmac manufacturing plants KBAS Contracting Company is able to produce all road building material, including kerbs and paving through the company's own resources. This facility has enabled us to provide clients in both government and private sectors with materials of assured high quality whilst maintaining competitive prices. With a history of some 30 years of major road construction, with contracts satisfactorily completed over the past 10 years amounting to hundreds of millions of Riyals in value, KBAS Contracting Company without doubt, is in the forefront of road building contractors in Qatar. AIRPORT KBAS Contracting Company has been responsible for carrying out major runway, taxiway and apron reconstruction contracts at Doha International Airport for the past 20 years. Works have included the reconstruction of the main runway including displaced thresholds to retain full operational use of the airport.
